Healthy Schools, West Northamptonshire
At Farthinghoe School we are proud to be part of the Healthy Schools innovative, led by West Northamptonshire Council.
The scheme aims to support schools to help their children and young people to grow healthily, safely and responsibly. The Healthy Schools toolkit builds on the underlying principles of the English National Healthy School Programme and is available to all schools and settings. It has been revised in consultation with schools with content aligned to current Ofsted guidance.

The West Northamptonshire team provide a monthly newsletter, full of articles relating to particular current issues, important announcements, pupil surveys, Mental Health First Aid Training courses as well as key dates for your campaign calendar.

- improve knowledge, understanding and skills around the benefits of eating well to inspire healthy, balanced food choices
- enhance the emotional literacy of children and young people, improve resilience and optimise their wellbeing
- improve enjoyment and knowledge of the benefits of movement, to increase physical activity
- enrich children and young people’s opportunities to learn about personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE), including relationships and sex education (RSE)
It promotes a whole school approach to the following areas:

- healthy eating
- physical activity
- PSHE
- advice and guidance
- resource ideas
- signposting to external partners
- staff health MOTs
- 'Talk Out Loud' participation group
- children’s mental health awareness day (10 February 2023)
