Music - Children develop their ensemble skills using tuned and un-tuned percussion instruments. They also learn to evaluate their own work and are introduced to composing and improvising at the end of KS1. Much of our learning focuses on vocal work.
By the end of Year 6, all pupils have had the chance to play violin, guitar and keyboard from a specialist. We currently offer recorder and choir in after school clubs. Some children go on to join the Northamptonshire Music Service and love the experience of playing in a mixed ensemble.
Art, Design and Technology - Our children learn how to become artists, designers and cooks. They use a variety of media, create designs and learn how to prepare food. To build on their skills many of our children choose to join after school clubs that help them explore this subject further.
Drama - Drama is studied within the English curriculum and as part of our whole school production. Children in Key stage 2 put on a school performance each year. All children have the opportunity to have a speaking part every year. This allows students to develop the skills to be able to hold an audience while creating a believable portrayal of various characters within a range of styles. We alternate between creating our own piece and inviting the ‘Creation Theatre Group’ (Oxford) to lead our rehearsals.
