We celebrated World Book Day in traditional style.

Children from Farthinghoe Primary School went to Chenderit to run at a cross country event.  It was really cold and dull, but all of us were resilient.  Every one of us carried on and completed the race, even though some of us had falls.
The children that participated were: Immy, Jessica, Daisy, Rosie, River, Tommy, Timothy, Ben and Niall. These children proved that they can complete something when the weather was not what they expected. Most of us came in the top 10. Daisy ended in 3rd place.  Rosie was 7th and Immy 10th. 
The final race took place in the dark!

This term EYFS and Key Stage have been learning about castles and dragons as their topic, on Thursday, 18th October the children were invited to come into school dressed as prince's, princesses, dragons and knights to celebrate the end of their topic.

Every child in KS2 took part in a Tag rugby tournament.  Teams of 4 took to the field and put on a display of fantastic sportsmanship and competition.  With team names like "The Winning Warriors, The Banana Bunch and Princess Power" the children had great fun.
Thanks to Ben White from Magdelen and Jack Holloway from Warriner for refereeing the matches.  The winning team were The Banana Bunch and everyone has a new passion for Tag Rugby.

The children took part in the Chenderit Cluster Tag Rugby festival.  We played hard and we played fair.  The result was not what we were expecting but the children improved their skills and had a great time.

               
I woke up early knowing that today was not an ordinary school day, today we were going to Warwick castle. Though I`ve been there many times I was still excited about climbing towers, getting lost in the maze and watching extraordinary shows.

I`m at school now waiting impatiently for the bus to arrive. Many minutes passed, until finally Mr Elson came in with the news everyone was waiting to here.
We all aboard the bus, getting comfy as we had a long ride ahead of us. One boy (Max) even fell asleep! At last we arrived at the castle. We went through the gates and there stood before us, was…the mighty Warwick Castle!
 
At 10:30am we all sat down to watch the bowman. He started to fire arrows without saying anything.  Then, finally, he started to talk. His aim was to hit a small red dot, but honestly, I did not think he was any good because he failed to do so.

Today, Mrs. Mold's violin and cello pupils put on a small concert for us to enjoy.  They played a number of pieces that were enjoyed by all.

Forget Wimbledon, forget the World cup, the most important sports event of the year took place this afternoon.  Farthinghoe Sports day 2018 saw the children competing in a series of running jumping and throwing events where sport was the winner.  The winning tear took home the trophy with 7500 points.  

To celebrate Harry Potter's birthday, Farthinghoe School was transformed in Hogwarts for the day.  Children arrived dressed in costume and the school was decorated.  We had lessons in the morning including: broom design,  Wand design and spell writing.  In the afternoon we had a Quidditch tournament where Ravenclaw won!

Today we were treated to a rock performance and workshop from NMPAT.  They demonstrated their instruments and told us how they had to work together to create a performance. 
Following the performance, the workshop allowed the children to develop their own tune and vocals which were "laid down" using Garageband.
